We have to talk about it

It is hard to argue with the idea that international federations, national associations, and event organizers should be spearheading the pursuit of a safe, clean, and fair environment for sports. Of course they should.

The intricate part of the equation lies in how to do it: how to bridge the gap between good intention and concrete results; how to ensure that the genuinely rightful words reach and impact the right audience.

It is not an easy endeavor. Anyone who loves sports – athletes, coaches, or fans – would love to not have to talk about anti-doping and just focus on the sport itself. The problem? We have to talk about it – it is the first step towards what should be our main goal in this realm: prevention.

Well, Antidoping Norge, Norges Skiforbund, and the Trondheim 2025 organizing committee have done it: they have shed a light on the topic of doping in a way that is informative, but also compelling and eye-opening.

It takes courage to face the topic upfront – and here I must highlight Max Hauke’s testimony in this series. When delivered like this, genuinely and well presented, words can make a true difference. I salute this project for having chosen just the right ones.

For the love of snow sports …
